OUR APPROACH
Our approach to evaluation builds on proven principles. That is, we work in a way that is culturally responsive, participatory, and focused on utility.
Culturally Responsive Evaluation
-CRE-
We respect cultural context. “Culturally responsive evaluators honor the cultural context in which an evaluation takes place by hearing diverse voices and perspectives,” say Frierson, Hood, Hughes, and Thomas — The 2010 User-Friendly Guide to Project Evaluation (NSF 2010a).
Participatory Evaluation
—
We engage all key stakeholders. Collaborating with stakeholders throughout evaluation is vital to ensuring that the process is open, transparent, and inclusive of multiple perspectives.
Utilization- Focused Evaluation
-UFE-
We measure success by utility. This is the extent to which our processes and products are put into practice by program staff when making decisions and taking action. UFE means working closely with program staff to inform actions and improve outcomes.
